April 2008 Update

The selection committee were choosing a candidate to stand for Parliament. As they discussed Mr X they made the following observations:

    He isn’t good looking. He wouldn’t photograph and film well. That really is very important today.

    His formal education is weak. He has no qualifications to his name.

    He doesn’t seem to have been successful in his career. His main work to date seems to have ended in failure. We really need someone with an aura of success.

    Perhaps that’s why he doesn’t seem powerful when one meets him.

    And then he doesn’t seem to be popular. We’ve even found people who despise him.

Surely, Mr X would have little chance of selection.

All of these things could have been said of Jesus, crucified on a cross. In the Bible it says, for example, “he had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him”. And yet the message of Easter is that God has exalted his Son, Jesus & millions of people now worship him as their God. Come and join us to worship Him this Easter-time.
