What is the secret of happiness?
What is the secret of happiness? The Independent on Sunday set out to answer this question by asking a number of people who deal with the problems of others every day. Here are some of their answers:
The caretaker: ‘Remember, never do anything embarrassing in a lift. There’s always someone watching you on CCTV.
The policeman: ‘Happiness is all about paying attention to detail.’
The lawyer: ‘If you’re looking to live a smooth, sorted financial life, then you’ve got to open your post.’
The dating expert: ‘The attractive people aren’t the most popular. The happy ones are. People would always rather be with a plain happy person than a really attractive sourpuss.’
The cab driver: ‘I’ve been driving my cab for 40 years, and people are getting more miserable. They want everything at once – it’s pure greed. Live life for today, love your life and don’t believe a word you read in the newspapers.’
The barman: ‘What do the happiest customers drink? It’s hard to say – cider? What do the misery guts drink? Stella.’
Jesus: ‘I have come that they may have life, and have it in all its fullness’
What is the secret of happiness? Many people have discovered that the words of Jesus have proved true in their lives. Not that life is without difficulties and struggles, but Jesus gives a quality of life they wouldn’t exchange for anything else. Why not come to church to find out more about Jesus’ wonderful offer?
