Fordham Church

Baptisms of both children and adults are a regular part of our Sunday church services. They are great occasions as we welcome new members into the church of Christ.

Given the seriousness of the vows made at a Baptism, we ask all candidates, or their parents and godparents in the case of young children, to undertake some preparation. This usually involves attending a course called 'Christianity Explored' and attending church on a regular basis.

We also offer a Service of Thanksgiving for the Gift of a Child. Many parents want to thank God and ask for his blessing on their child, but don't feel able to make the commitment of the Baptism vows. This lovely service offers an opportunity to do just that. They are usually held after a service on Sunday, but there is some flexibility over time and place. A child can always have a Thanksgiving first, and then a Baptism at a later date.
